Freilager-Platz is the spatial centre of the Campus of the Arts: an open urban area with the FHNW Academy of Art and Design’s Highrise and Studio Buildings as well as many art and cultural institutions, among them the HeK House of Electronic Arts Basel, Radio X, the production company Point de Vue, as well as the Atelier Mondial International Arts Exchange Program Basel.

The bordering Transitlager has been transformed into apartments, offices and public spaces. The archives and residential buildings of the architects Herzog & de Meuron offer a direct and invaluable insight into Swiss architectural history.

This concentration of key players within arts, design and creative industries turns the Freilager-Platz into a space of potentiality and a catalyst for active exchange and inspiring encounters, a site for temporary interventions and prestigious events.
